exhibitions
At Neuf Trois, we offer tangible exhibitions as a platform for up-and-coming artists. So far, a wide variety of art forms have been covered, including photography, fashion, painting, sculpture, graffiti, sculptures, video and sound installations and performances. In the future, we want to maintain and strengthen the diversity of art forms.
The exhibitions aim to facilitate networking and collaboration between artists and collectives and to give their works a place in the Basel art scene. By supporting artists and creatives, we strive to foster a diverse, interdisciplinary and cross-generational environment. We are committed to facilitating the exchange of different perspectives, making art and its background accessible and archiving it. The black exhibition space at Neuf Trois is curated through specific requests from the artist members of the collective and refers to artistic and contemporary discourses.
Nutritional Connections:
At Nutritional Connections, we believe food is far more than sustenance – it‘s a bridge between cultures, generations and communities. Our program explores aspects of the food ecosystem, from the significance of local ingredients and innovative solutions to food waste, to the preservation of diasporic cooking traditions. Our Partners during “Nutritional Connections” will be Nexus Collective, WERT!Stätte and many more! Through inspiring talks, collaborative workshops and engaging exhibitions, we invite participants to explore the rich narratives, collective memories and deep cultural connections that food creates. This years exhibition programme is supported by Elch Records and the Kanton Basel-Stadt Kultur.

Obscura Sessions
The Obscura Sessions are a digital performance platform for young artists with a connection to Basel. It acts as a digital stage for up-and-coming artists who present a diverse range of performances. The focus is on the diversity of artistic forms of expression and their individual cultural backgrounds. As our physical exhibition space only offers limited space for the permanent presentation of various art forms, especially in the field of music, the idea was born to invite artists to record their performances and make them digitally accessible. Unlike conventional sound and radio studios, the use of a black room provides a neutral but fascinating backdrop for the creative performance. The format is aimed at fans and supporters of the invited artists, who can enjoy and share their own productions. In addition, “Obscura Sessions” is already enjoying a growing number of interested people following the whole format.
Our goal is to reach and expand a broad audience of people interested in music, art and culture. The selection of artists is influenced by our location in Basel and consciously strives for diversity in art, origin and style. However, Obscura Sessions is also open to invitations and the participation of artists from other regions in order to promote cross-border networking.

Obscura Cypher
“Obscura Cypher” is an open performance platform in the field of word acrobatics and part of the various Obscura event formats at the Neuf Trois collective in Basel. It regularly offers participants the opportunity to discuss everyday impressions together in a playful way and to raise awareness of their individual and social position. The focus of the gathering is on the exchange between people of different generations and origins, the linking of different groups of people, the celebration of interdisciplinary and artistic expression without great means and the strengthening of self-confidence in the appropriation of urban space. Through the series of events, the collective hopes to provide a safe space for the community in which the interpersonally valuable basic principles of local hip-hop culture can be lived out and communicated.
This video is purely a documentation of the event and is not intended to be a final format. With a view to immersive experiences, the collective is looking forward to your active participation! This years Obscura Cypher series is supported by Elch Records and the Kanton Basel-Stadt Kultur.

Obscura Tapes
With Obscura Tapes, DJs and music collectors have the opportunity to play a sequence of selected pieces of music in front of a static camera. Carefully prepared compositions are created without the influence of an audience. The focus is therefore on the music and the way it is put together. In times of often unrelated digital music consumption, our guests deliberately present selected pieces of music from known and unknown subgenres that can be appreciated online by music lovers and the protagonists’ environment. Far removed from party culture, our format is intended to provide an intimate selection of music without restrictions. We welcome all music lovers who would like to actively participate in this format. The sets will be curated by a diverse range of local and international guests. The selection of different artists will result in a collection of individually mixed and permanently accessible playlists over the course of the production series.
The aim of the format is to make the culture of humanly selected music accessible to a young generation. With this format, we appeal to DJs and music collectors to share their perspectives with us. We want to appeal to people who are looking for personal musical experiences, as well as promote subcultures and for whom the discovery and exchange of music is important.
